Description

A Connected Procurement & Comissioning Networking event:

Managing Contracts in the Public Sector

What is this event about?

This session is designed for anyone that manages public sector contracts to learn, share and be challenged! We are going to look at different aspects of contract management, and to give you a chance to raise any questions and challenges you have with public sector peers.

This session is an opportunity for public sector procurement officers and commissioners to learn, share and network. Each quarter, we invite different speakers to talk about different aspects of procurement and commissioning.

What's on the agenda?

Ian Brown, Manchester City Council is chair of this networking event. He will also be facilitating an open discussion for everyone who has any questions about any aspect of public sector contract management.

Hera Hussain, Open Contracting Partnership will be talking about Open Contracting, and answering your questions such as: what is it? How does it work? Why open contracting? What are the benefits? What's the evidence so far?

Michelle Brook, Democratic Society (TBC) has been invited to talk about Open Contracting Data Standard and open data methodology. Open Data Manchester and the Open Contracting Partnership has commissioned the Democratic Society to do a scoping study looking at the capacity of GM LAs to adopt the Open Contracting Data Standard and open data methodology. This is an initiative which is part of the global Open Government Partnership of which the UK Government is a signatory.

Mark Roberts, Government Commercial Function is invited to talk about the skills required to effectively manage contracts. GCF are setting standards for the training of those involved in procurement, contract management and other commercial activity.

Peter Schofield, AGMA will be providing a short update on the new national procurement strategy.

Watch this space! More information will be provided soon.

About iNetwork's Connected Procurement Programme

This event is delivered to you as part of iNetwork's Connected procurement Programme. The NW region has had a strong public sector procurement network for many years however in line with pressures on the sector, resources to support the network’s activities have diminished.

Connected Procurement is an initiative to develop and grown the community of procurement professional in the North West region, to keep colleagues up to date on hot topics, changing legislation and opportunities and to create space to think through the challenges facing procurement professionals.

The YPO is helping ensure the viability of the network, working with colleagues in iNetwork.

The network is open to anyone who’s organisations are members of iNetwork, which includes almost all councils, NHS Police and Fire & Rescue organisations in the North West. A full list of members is available at www.i-network.org.uk.
