Managing Difficult Questions in RSE – Training for Teachers, School Staff and other Professionals in Central Bedfordshire

Brook is the UK’s leading sexual health and wellbeing charity for young people. For over 55 years, we have supported, educated and empowered young people to make informed decisions about their sexual health, relationships and wellbeing. We have used this experience to inform our training pack.

About this training

Questions about bodies, relationships, identity, consent, or online risks can sometimes feel difficult to manage, particularly when they are unexpected, sensitive, or potentially safeguarding-related.

This 2-hour interactive training will equip teachers, school staff, and other professionals working with children and young people in Central Bedfordshire with the confidence and practical tools to handle these situations effectively.

Brook, a leading national charity supporting young people’s sexual health and wellbeing, will deliver this session, drawing on extensive expertise and real-world examples.

What you’ll learn

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Create a safe, inclusive environment where children and young people feel comfortable asking questions.
  • Anticipate the types of questions young people may ask, from sensitive puberty concerns to challenging or discriminatory comments.
  • Respond to questions with confidence and clarity, using evidence-based and age-appropriate language.
  • Develop and use scripts and consistent approaches across your school or service to support staff confidence.
  • Identify when a question or disclosure may raise safeguarding concerns and know how to respond appropriately.
  • Explore inclusive and trauma-informed practices that ensure all young people feel represented and respected.

Why attend?

  • Strengthen your confidence in answering difficult questions about sex, relationships, bodies, gender, and online safety.
