This workshop covers another of the core skills that continue to be required by managers in a COVID-19 era. Starting with why have disciplinary and grievance procedures, the session also includes the issues of discipline vs performance, conducting investigations, familiarisation with the employer’s policy and the importance of fair procedure. We shall also cover bullying, harassment and whistleblowing. Soft skills are particularly important in this area so we demonstrate tips on questioning techniques for investigations, effective listening and the impartial review of evidence. We will also consider ways in which employees may blow the whistle on concerns they have in the workplace in the current circumstances.
