Event description

Description

The purpose of the training is to support schools in managing incidents of sexting. Schools will review the national advice against their own practice and develop their own approach to managing incidents.

Objectives

•Schools better understand how to handle incidents

•Schools can identify when it is appropriate to manage an incident internally and when it is appropriate to make an external referral

•Schools are able to identify in what circumstances they should view and delete images

•Schools develop an approach for managing incidents going forward

The training will include:

•Risk assessing incidents - this will include presenting scenarios and schools considering how they will respond

•Making external referrals - schools will be offered advice around support services locally

•Viewing and deleting images - schools will be given clear advice around managing deletion; viewing and confiscation

This training will be delivered by Charlotte Aynsley one of the authors of the new guidance.

The training is aimed at secondary and special school/academies. It is recommended that schools send their safeguarding lead or deputy.
