Managing Pain - with Vidyamala Burch
Event Information
About this event
How can we change our relationship with pain?
At this event, Vidyamala Burch will share how she has transformed her relationship with chronic pain through mindfulness and living in the present. Vidyamala has been disabled and in near constant pain for decades, following spinal injuries and surgeries. During a night of particular agony she had a moment of realisation - that she only needed to get through one moment at a time - and that changed the way she looked at her life forever.
Vidyamala has spent years examining the mind and body's relationship with pain and the concepts of primary and secondary suffering. She will share insights into how small but significant changes can bring profound improvements in our quality of life. And she'll explain how by turning towards pain with compassion and softening, we can lessen our resistance and "turn down the volume" on our pain.
The event will take place on Zoom at 7pm London time (BST).
