  • Thurs 16 March
  • Friday 17 March
  • Thurs 6 April

Our ILM Managing People Course is now in it’s 12th year. In that time we’ve taken new managers from organisations big & small through this accredited training course. Organisations such as Scottish Drugs Forum, Glasgow Council on Alcohol and the Scottish Refugee Council have used our programme to support new & existing managers develop the skills they need to get the very best from their team.

Delivered over 5 days, the course helps participants build confidence in their management skills, foster positive working environments and tackle issues that arise sensitively & effectively. Each day has a different focus covering:

  • Creating a positive working environment
  • Recruiting for success
  • Getting the best from staff
  • When things go wrong
  • Leadership and pulling it all together.

Aimed at people with line management responsibilities, this course is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management and an ILM Certificate will be awarded to those participants who sucessfully complete the course and submit all required materials to an acceptable standard. Note that some homework is required including two short reports.

Here is what some previous participants have said about Managing People:

Valuable course – enjoyable, stimulating and fun! ”

“..gave me time to think and space to learn and plan….”

Plenty of time for group input and talking about and sharing experiences as well as useful information and guidance from the tutor”

I am an active person who gets bored easily and quickly but I did not get the chance to be bored on this course as it was balanced well.”

I found the course to be informative and enlightening and have got a lot to reflect on which I will take forward in my own practice. I found the structure of the course really beneficial and definitely was good to have 5 days to cover the materials.”

“I loved that course (never said that in my life before!) and I’m so glad I took part.

Lunch/refreshments will be provided as these are full day sessions.

FAQs

What kind of homework is required?

In order to get an ILM certificate you must submit materials that will be used as evidence that you have completed the course and assessed as meeting the standards required. Some of this will be handed in each day as output from that day’s group or individual work, but some requires you to do some work in your own workplace (e.g.distribute a team questionnaire, analyse a job) and there are also two short reports required. Work outwith the ‘classroom’ will amount to approximately 5 hours at most.

Can I attend just a couple of the five days?

The course is designed as an integrated five day course and if you enrol on it please make sure that you are able to attend all five days. If you are interested in any of the topics covered, but can’t sign up to the full course, please call us for information about single day courses that might be available.
