Managing separation from an abusive person

1 in 4 people experience some form of abusive relationship, this statistic is reflected in the number of guests coming to the Restored Lives Course who have been in abusive relationships. We are therefore working with Bekah Legg from the charity, Restored-UK.org to host an optional online session on 23 October at 7.15pm to guide people through the important issues around separation and abusive relationships.

Topics covered include:

  • What is abuse? Emotional issues. Who else can help you?
  • Revisiting themes covered on the Restored Lives course and considering how some of these may need to be adapted to an abusive situation. For example boundaries, different ways of communicating and the concept of parallel parenting.
  • Ideas for how to move on and let go.

This will follow the format of a normal online Restored Lives session. A series of talks will be delivered by Bekah with an opportunities for discussions in smaller groups. You will be able to submit written questions for a Q&A session at the end of the evening. As with many of the issues that Restored Lives deals with, this may be a delicate topic for you. Although some people find it helpful to share their story, you do not have to and you are very welcome to join us and simply listen if that is better for you.
