Description

This course is aimed at our members who want training on managing volunteers and reducing volunteer turnover in their shop.

What will I be trained on?

Creating a volunteering culture: Consider a person-centred approach to volunteers, demonstrate the concept of the ‘Volunteering Culture’ and examine the status of volunteers in the shop (including their pros and cons).

Managing volunteers: Establish the key principles of volunteer management, look into ways to increase motivation and loyalty and learn the best ways to provide support and supervision.

How to retain volunteers: Explore good practice in volunteer management and retention and consider why some people volunteer while others don’t.

Managing problems: Discuss ways to manage the common issues with volunteers (including personal and professional boundaries), deal with suspension of volunteers.


Who should attend?

This course is aimed at anyone whose responsibility includes the management of volunteers, whether this is Area Manager, Retail Operations Manager, Shop Manager or any other volunteer-related position.


When does it run till?

Each course will run from 10am until 4.15pm, with registration from 9.30am. Lunch and refreshments are included with every booking.


You can attend a one day training course for only £125 + VAT, with an expert trainer and a small group of delegates.

We are also able to offer a small number of bursary places on the course reducing the ticket price to £62.50 plus VAT. These places are aimed at charities who have five or fewer charity shops.


Non-Members of the Charity Retail Association:

We also have non-member rates for attending the training. Please contact us for further details.

Numbers are very limited for this day in order to ensure attendees get the most out of the training, and therefore we advise members to book early to avoid disappointment. Charities can register multiple delegates should they wish.

Catering changes in 2020

In our efforts to go green, all Charity Retail Association events will be 100% vegetarian-catered by default. You are still very welcome to opt for a meat/fish-option so please make sure this is noted in the dietary requirements section when booking, alongside any other dietary requirements you may have.
