Event description
This conference will hear from some community and landowner initiatives and address three questions:

About this Event

  • Is a Ranger Service part of the mix of solutions required for Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh?
  • What would a Ranger Service do? How would it organise?
  • How would a Ranger Service be sustained long-term?

The conference will hear presentations covering the former Ranger Service, as well as experiences from community groups and landowners about the initiatives they have taken, and their aspirations for progress.Nic Bullivant will outline his experience and an overview of opportunities and drawbacks in providing Ranger Services in the Cairngorms and in Scotland. A plenary session will draw together answers and recommendations. Answers will inform SkyeConnect’s approach to those who could make this happen.

This is an important opportunity to influence the progress of the initiatives to manage visitors and the environment of Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh, and all interested parties are welcome to participate. SkyeConnect will lobby public and private agencies and organisations to help shape the future management of our fragile rural environment.

Attendance is free, donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the hall hire and refreshments. For further information please email Alistair Danter, Project Manager at info@skye-connect.com

A provisional agenda for the conference can be seen at this link.

Topics may be subject to change.
