Barry Kernon, accounting and tax consultant with HW Fisher, will be hosting a free financial advice session for creative freelancers. He will cover key topics including invoicing, record-keeping, deductibles, year end and self-assessment.
About Barry
Barry Kernon is an accounting and tax consultant advising many media clients at HW Fisher. He works with many authors, journalists, artists, musicians, producers, directors and others in the media world, and specialises in the tax treatment of individuals in the creative industries. Barry also advises many smaller businesses operating in a wide variety of sectors.
With more than 40 years’ experience of providing specialist advice in tax planning, reducing tax liabilities (including the use of limited companies and strategic business advice) as well as accounts preparation, he advises clients on all tax matters, including VAT, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax etc. and deals with all aspects of authors’ tax advice.
Barry qualified in 1970 and had his own practice for many years until it merged with HW Fisher in 2002. He is Honorary Treasurer of the Society of Authors and was once nominated to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of his many years of service.
