Description

This session is a masterclass on the do's and dont's of charity finance facilitated by one of Leicester's most eminent charity trustees, Brian Wilson. The session will set out the principles of good financial practice for charities and explain some of the skills that ordinary trustees should have in assessing the financial well-being of the organizations they govern.

Who is this session suitable for?

This session would be suitable for new organisations wishing to learn more about charity finance or for existing trustees who wish to develop their understanding of charity finances.

  • The role of the treasurer
  • Good financial practice for a charitable organizations
  • How to scrutinize your charity finances effectively

Entry requirements

  • Participants will require a reasonable understanding of English

  • To access this course free of charge you will need to be currently working for a voluntary or community organisation based in Leicester or Leicestershire. Organisations who do not meet these requirements will be asked to pay

About the facilitator

Brian Wilson is a qualified accountant who is the Treasurer of 3 local charities in Leicester and is also the Treasurer of Clockwise Credit Union, a leading not-for-profit organisation providing a range of ethical financial products to 10000 members in Leicester and Leicestershire.
