Speaker 1: Paul Bricknell Tax and Estate Planning Partner, Kuits Solicitors

Session title: Riding out the tax storm - Mitigating the tax attack on Buy to Let investors

This session has been designed to provide a review of the changes in taxation of buy to let properties. The benefit of incorporation including reduced taxes, tax efficient life insurance, enhanced pension contributions and Inheritance Tax planning opportunities.

By the end of the session delegates should understand:

  • Understanding the current taxation environment of buy to let property investment
  • Spot the opportunities for clients to mitigate the tax
  • Understand when Incorporation might be beneficial
  • Understand the pension and insurance benefits of incorporation
  • Spot opportunities to mitigate Inheritance tax  for buy to let investors

 


 

Speaker 2: Kevin Doran

Session title: Liquid Gold: “What Venezuela can tell us about interest rates”

As Venezuela teeters on the edge of civil war, Kevin Doran examines the economic policies that brought the nation to the brink – policies now being copied by the Bank of England and which seem set to cost the central bank its independence.

 By the end of this session delegates should understand:

  • The current Venezuelan economic and political situation.
  • How market manipulation creates unintended consequences.
  • The difference between the MPC and FPC.
  • How Macro Prudential policy works.
  • How close the UK Central Bank is to losing its independence.
