About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

HER+Data MCR is a community working to connect, inspire, support and empower the NW UK’s Women in Data. Our goal is to bring together women and non-binary people who work in data or who would like to work in data - to support one another, share experiences and talk data - big or small! Whether you’re a student just embarking on a career or a seasoned data professional, this group is for you. We want to connect and inspire amazing data women with diverse expertise and experience.

For our August 2025 event, our friends at Open Data MCR, PyData MCR, Queer in Tech, Rust MCR, and Women in Tech North will join us to host a Manchester Data [and Tech] Community Summer Social to bring everyone together again and hear more about each of these groups and their activities. So please register to come along to connect and network with others in the Manchester data/tech community - everyone is welcome!

The venue, food and drinks are very generously provided by KrakenFlex. The event will take place at their Manchester office: 13th Floor, No.2 Circle Square, 1 Symphony Park, Manchester, M1 7FS.

Open Data Manchester is a not-for-profit that was formed in 2010 from a diverse group of open data advocates, supporting people, communities and organisations to understand and use data that is about them and their communities.

PyData MCR is the Manchester chapter of the International PyData Community. For Manchester based data people, to share and learn new things. All open data tooling welcome, we are not python focused.

Queer in Tech is a meet-up community dedicated to fostering an inclusive space for LGBTQ+ people and allies in the tech industry. We host quarterly(ish) events where attendees can hear talks from members of the community, connect with other queer professionals, and build meaningful networks.

The Rust Manchester Meetup is a vibrant community of Rustaceans in Manchester, UK. With over 400 members, the group welcomes Rust enthusiasts of all skill levels, as well as those simply interested in the language who would like to take their first steps. They organize events, code nights, and collaborative talks.

WIT North was founded in 2016 by Arzu Kanval and Beckie Taylor as a way to bring women working in the Greater Manchester Technology sector together. In 2018 Kate Wood joined the team as a Co-Lead. We have since created a strong and thoughtful community of over 3000 members, we are an inclusive community and we want to ensure full representation at our events. Through our annual calendar of events, we've connected our members, creating an authentic, vulnerable and courageous community. Through our inclusive community, we champion equality and challenge bias. WIT North creates opportunities, through mentorship, leadership development, and collaborative events. Together our collective action and shared purpose encourages future generations to pursue technology as a career alongside people career switching, returning and developing their careers in the industry.
