After a very successful hackathon in 2013, we're heading back to Manchester to revisit TechHub and work on more amazing things,
You will gain the chance to work with people that are both likeminded, and skilled in their area of web design & development. Also, you will get to meet some great people from all over the UK, and perhaps even overseas.
The projects will be made available for anyone & everyone to see after the event is complete, and will show as great pieces of portfolio work - if you're struggling for great things.
We'll be breaking the time up with a meal out to a nearby venue on the Saturday evening (not included in cost), to give everyone a chance to socialise, build up strong relationships and perhaps even find people to work with on even bigger projects in the future. Or to just get some help/advice for the project you're hacking out.
The event will run for a little over 24 hours, this is to allow both time for the evening meal on Saturday, lunch and time on Sunday for a couple of people from each team to present what they've worked on.
In the run up to the hackathon, all attendees will be given access to the hackathon portal that will allow you to share your ideas for a project at the hackathon, split into teams, upvote ideas and also see who else is attending.
Hosted as close as you can get to Manchester Picadilly station without sitting in Costa, the venue will provide plenty of tea/coffee making facilities, as well as beanbags to grab a nap if you want, and even a football table to prove you can do something other than write code/design. Feel free to bring food/drink for the duration of the event ... 24 hours is a long time, and you might feel greatful for having some Monster or RocketFuel (it's a type of high-caffeine cofee that I'm told tastes horrible) to keep you going.
Attendees are more than welcome to check in to a local hotel over night, or hack it out for 24 hours like a true maniac.
Do shout if you have any questions!
Where can I find out more information?
Check out the hackathon page on the Summit Awesome site.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Anyone under the age of 18 requires consent from their parent/guardian. Unfortunately, this event isn't open to anyone under the age of 16.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Manchester has some awesome road connections, as well as rail connections. Manchester Picadilly Station is about 2-3 minutes away, and there is plenty of car parking around - with varied prices, the average probably being around £6/24 hours.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Please don't bring your pet giraffe, while we think they're awesome animals, we unfortunately, can't fit them in the building that we've got. Make sure you bring something along to work on - no workstations or machines will be available to use. Also, any food/drinks that you want while at the event.
There is no need to bring a desk, chair, or a building - we've managed to cover those!
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Feel free to get in touch at the Twitter Account - @SummitAwesome - or if you want to get in touch with Michael - you can by emailing: team [at] summitawesome.co.uk
