Manchester Hill Saturday 17th March
Event Information
Description
The Battle of Manchester Hill was a tragic event for the Manchester Regiment in WW1. To mark its centenary as part of a weekend commemorative programme, an ambitious cultural project has been planned to bring this forgotten story to life with leading artists and participant groups.
Manchester Histories would like to welcome participants to take part in this exciting project. Working with archivist Kevin Bolton and Digital Artist Bec Smith (Urban Projections) these workshops will enable you to learn about the history of this event and create artwork that will contribute to the Final Event at Manchester Cathedral on 13th April.
This session will be a drop in event taking place between 10am and 4pm so there's no need to attend for the full day (although you are very welcome to!).
Our main base will be in the Search Room which is on the ground floor of the library. Entering via the main entrance on St. Peter's Square, simply head in a straight line through Archives+ and to the back of the main room where you will see a Manchester Histories banner and be greeted by the team.
If you need any further information in advance of the workshop, please email steph@manchesterhistories.co.uk
