Rent rises. Damp. Gentrification. Benefit caps. Revenge evictions. Hidden homelessness. Street homelessess. Mortgage arrears.
There is a housing crisis in Manchester. Over 80,000 people in Greater Manchester are waiting for social housing. There are 25,000 empty homes while people sleep on the streets.
Are you facing a housing problem? Are you trying to organise in your community to resist displacement or to deal with a dodgy landlord? Are you facing a problem with rent arrears? Do you want to meet other people and organise together for better housing in the city?
Come to our free public event to create a network in Manchester to contest the housing crisis. Only we, together, can improve living conditions in our city and support each other in our different struggles.
There will be guest speakers from Focus E15 (a group of homesless Mum's who resited displacement from London) and the Radical Housing Network, who have networked housing struggles across the capital. As well as workshops to share our experiences and housing problems and free food and refreshments.
We will reimburse anyone who would struggle to get to the meeting otherwise (just let us know) and please let us know any access issues.
