Event Information
Description
This is a timely debate about Manchester Music Legacies and why Manchester does not have a centre to celebrate its music history and its pioneering past and future. As music tourism grows, what would be a way to increase Manchester's presence for visitors and Mancunians alike?
Join the Chair Dave Haslam (DJ & Author), Mike Joyce (World famed musician), Jon Drape (Ground Control/ Parklife), Abigail Ward (MDMA Archive), Susan O'Shea (Factory Acts & MMU Lecturer) and Simon Binns (City Life Editor at MEN). The debate starts at 7:00 pm after door open for seating at 6:30 pm.
There will be many invitees to the event as well as a vast number of first come first served tickets! The idea is to discuss what people feel would be the best model and way forward to achieve this, how the centre would look, what it would mean, what people would like to see and if any of the invitees in the audience might take the idea forward.
98% in a recent survey of 295 responses felt to not have such a centre was a missed opportunity for Manchester. If you wish to take the survey, take this here if you have not done so!
Most importantly, this public debate is your chance to give ideas and opinions of what you feel would not work for a music legacies centre in Manchester. It will be sure to be passionate, enjoyable and thought provoking, so come along with questions and ideas!
