Description

Manchester's burgeoning digital technology sector saw the city make the top 20 in the European Digital City Index for starting and scaling a digital tech business.

Late Rooms, AutoTrader, LADbible, ThoughtWorks, Hello Soda, UKFast, Peak and Degree 53 are just some of the growing number of tech companies choosing to base themselves in a city with three universities and a thriving skills base.

Hardly surprising then that landlords are queueing up to welcome fast-growing tech firms into their buildings.

The Co-op Group’s Federation House has been transformed and is already home to ThoughtWorks and a clutch of other digital companies; WeWork has announced it’s leasing 40,000 sq ft of space in One St Peter’s Square after first opening at No.1 Spinningfields; and XYZ Building opened last year.

MediaCityUK could double in size in 10 years while other options include Spinningfields; Northern Quarter; Sharp Project; Exchange Quay and a growing number of start-up incubator hubs.

What are tech companies looking for? Are tech companies fuelling the drive for co-working space or is just a new way of working? Can demand match supply or could the bubble burst?

These are some of the questions that BusinessCloud's latest breakfast event – 'Manchester's rush for tech space' – will be answering on February 28.
