<p>Treat yourself to a break from your daily stresses and take a deep dive into your mind through creative self-reflection. You will learn about the history and symbolism of traditional mandala designs and use these ideas to create original pieces that represent your personal journey.</p><p>This workshop has something to offer to all skill levels, from beginners (even if you can't draw a stick man!) to experienced artists. The focus is on openly expressing emotions and connecting with yourself - so you don't need to create a Picasso!</p><h3>What you will be doing</h3><ul><li>Warm-up<strong>: </strong>guided<strong> </strong>therapeutic art exercise </li><li>History: origin and cultural context of mandalas and their traditional use</li><li>Main exercise: combine therapeutic skills from the warm-up with traditional symbolism to create a unique mandala with step-by-step guidance</li></ul><h3>What you will get</h3><ul><li>Skills in designing simple shapes and symbols used in traditional mandalas and their meanings</li><li>Time to explore &amp; express yourself freely through mandala design</li><li>New techniques to aid in independent meditation and self-reflection</li></ul><p><strong>Your ticket includes all the art supplies you need so you don't need to bring anything with you. </strong></p><p>You can bring your own food and drink if you'd like to draw while enjoying your favourite snacks! The venue also includes a kitchenette where you are welcome to tea and coffee. </p><p>You will be guided by a local artist and leave with your own unique A3 mandala piece.</p><h3>About Me</h3><p>My name is Akansha Srivastava, I am a local artist based in South East London. I  started volunteering at Rain on Me last year as I felt close to their cause. Having had anxiety for a few years  I’ve used a variety of coping mechanisms and therapeutic techniques like journaling and going for walks. However, during the pandemic, I've been able to draw and paint more which I've found very relaxing. When I joined Rain on Me the founder suggested using my skills and experience in art to create something that could combine self exploration and therapeutic techniques with the meditative nature of art which led to this workshop! </p><h3>Our Purpose </h3><p>Our workshop is hosted by Rain on Me, a not-for-profit mental health organisation that aims to provide international peer support for young adults aged 18+. The profits raised from this event  will go towards providing free online &amp; in-person peer support,  therapy sessions and more workshops just like this!</p>
