Mandarin in Practice: A North-East Perspective - L3 and Developing the Youth Workforce

About this Event

For teachers and others interested in considering the teaching of Mandarin in schools in north-east local authority areas including Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, and Highland.

Jointly hosted by Scotland China Education Network, the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen and Aberdeen City Council.

Includes guest speaker Katherine Carruthers from the Institute of Education at UCL.

Free to attend. Advance registration required. Registration deadline is Friday 13th March 2020.

• 11.05am Keynote speaker: Katharine Carruthers, IOE Confucius Institute Director and Pro-Vice-Provost for East Asia at UCL

Katharine plays a leading role in promoting and developing the study of Chinese in schools in England and is series editor of the textbooks for teaching Chinese for 11-16 year olds. She is also the Strategic Director for UCL’s delivery of the Department for Education’s Mandarin Excellence Programme.
