This Youth Mental Health First Aid course will be delivered by a Mental Health First Aid England instructor in association with West Sussex Mind. This course has been funded to provide support to Professionals that support young people within the Manhood Peninsula area. Please only book a ticket if you work in this geographical location.
Please note, there are two spaces available per organisation. If more than two spaces are booked, your ticket may be cancelled and you may be moved to a waiting list for additional spaces to be released, if available, nearer to the course start date.
What is Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)
Youth Mental Health First Aid courses are for everyone who works with, lives with or supports young people aged 8-18.
They will give you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, to offer first aid, and to guide the young person towards the support they need. In doing so, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse.
Our courses won't teach you to be a therapist, but they will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis - and potentially allow you to stop a crisis from happening.
But more than that, we aim to give you the information and skills to look after your own mental health so that you can set an example for young people.
By giving you the tools to have these conversations, we hope to empower you to contribute to a mentally healthy, supportive environment in your family, school, peer group and community.

The MHFA consists of four x 4 hour live sessions with a qualified course instructor as follows:
