Event description

Description

“Manifesto for a Radical Media Studies” explores the history of how media has been used and shaped by powerful institutions such as states and corporations to facilitate and sustain their interests.

Professor Grieveson's lecture will use this exploration to propose the necessity of a new historical and materialist study of media in its mass, convergent, and social forms.

Lecturer: Lee Grieveson, Professor of Media History, UCL Centre for Multidiciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry

Inaugural lectures are an opportunity for recently-promoted professors to exhibit to the wider UCL community, and the public outside UCL, a flavour of their intellectual activity and research. Each lecture is followed by a drinks reception, to which all attendees are warmly invited.
