Meeting at the Manningtree station buffet for a free coffee (available with your train ticket) we will head out of the station and through incredible Constable country to Flatford Mill and Willie Lotts Cottage, the site of Constables famous painting 'The Hay Wain'. Bring a packed lunch for a picnic on the riverbank with a talk about John Constable and the area he lived. After lunch we will make our way back to the station to return home.

Don't forget to bring your camera or sketchbook, plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen and suitable clothing for the weather on the day.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, though they may be required to be on a lead for some of the walk.

Can I park nearby?

Yes, there is a carpark at Manningtree station, though there are charges. We advise you to take the train and avoid traffic, queues and parking issues and you get a free coffee with your rail ticket.

Will it go ahead if the weather is bad?

If it has been raining a lot the area around the Dedham Vale does flood so we reserve the right to change the route for a different walk from Manningtree station. Please email info@esscrp.org.uk for further updates.
