Programme:

Registration starts at 9.15 am

Workshop: 9.30 am – 4.30 pm


MANUAL HANDLING

  • Be able to recognise manual handling risk factors and how injuries can occur
  • Practice a dynamic T.I.L.E risk assessment
  • Understand the importance of postural awareness in self and others
  • Practise inanimate load handling, lift, lower, push, pull, turn, carry.
  • Apply risk assessment to patient mobility assistance (waiting area scenarios)
  • Practise sit, stand, walk, fallen and falling patient competencies
  • Recognise risks associated with wheelchair use and undertake a pre use check.
  • Complete Skills for Health NOS simulated competencies


CONFLICT RESOLUTION

  • Explore current scale of challenges health workers face with regard to physical attacks
  • Describe the common causes of conflict situations to develop strategies to reduce the opportunity for conflict in the future
  • Indicate the level of emphasis that can be placed on verbal and non-verbal communication during a conflict situation
  • Practise both verbal and nonverbal de-escalation skills
  • Practise breakaway competencies skills in accordance with Conflict Resolution Syllabus NHS England


This Training is suitable for Reception staff, Healthcare Assistants and Nurses


This course will be presented by an RN with 20 years’ experience in delivering NHS Conflict Resolution syllabus & People Handling skills in multiple clinical settings throughout NHS organisations across the UK.
