Manufacturing Challenge Conference

Manufacturing Challenge Conference

By UK Metamaterials Network

Overview

The 1st Metamaterials Manufacturing Conference, organised by the Manufacturing Challenge team within the UK Metamaterials Network.

There are a maximum of 50 places available for this event. This form is only an expression of interest and all expressions of interes will be reviewed on completion.

Who would it be suitable for?

Academics, researchers (PhD students and research fellows) and industrialists working on any stage in the process of manufacturing metamaterials and metamaterial devices. This includes work on designing metamaterials and understanding the effect of defects, materials scientists and manufacturing specialists working on making the devices, and those interested in metrology and testing.

Why should people come?

Understanding how metamaterials can be made consistently, reliably and at scale is one of the biggest barriers to the establishment of a thriving metamaterials industry in the UK and around the world. The scientific principles of metamaterial properties have in many cases been well established by academic work, but at this stage there is a pressing need for academic researchers with expertise in manufacturing, materials, design, and metrology to tackle the challenge of establishing robust and scalable manufacturing routes for a wide range of metamaterial devices. The 1st Metamaterials Manufacturing Conference, organised by the Manufacturing Challenge team within the UK Metamaterials Network, will bring together academic researchers and industrialists working on this challenge. Over two days the event will include presentations of recent research findings, invited talks on the most pressing challenges in the field, and networking opportunities including discussions and knowledge exchange to build a coherent community of metamaterials manufacturing experts.
