Description

Manuscript Surgery with literary agent Davinia Andrew Lynch

If you are a budding or emerging writer, this is a special and tailored opportunity to find out whether your opening chapters pack the right punch, and if you are on the right track to share your writing with the world with the help of a literary agent.

As part of the Manuscript Surgery service, you will need to send a cover letter, the first three chapters of your manuscript and a synopsis. It is also advisable to send any questions you may have in the main body of the email to enable Davinia to address them on surgery day.

This information will need to be sent no later than one week before the day of the session so you will need to book your place by 27 July 2019 to ensure you get your work assessed. All documents must be sent via email, details of which you will receive after making your booking. Each document should be sent as separate .docx attachments.

During each 30 minute surgery slot (10 maximum and pre-allocated when you book), Davinia will feedback to your pre-read submission, flagging up any areas that require work. This may be editorial, or asking questions relating to the unfolding of your plot (synopses are notoriously hard to get right so you could be inadvertently doing youself a disservice) and/or the delivery of your cover letter.

Please note: The surgery will cover manuscripts in the following genres:

  • MG (Middle Grade)

  • YA (Young Adult)

  • Commercial Women’s Fiction

  • Book Club Fiction

  • Thrillers

  • Accessible Fantasy / YA

  • Crime

  • Romance

  • Lifestyle Non-Fiction

  • Accessible Academic Non-Fiction

  • Business Non-Fiction

Davina Andrew-Lynch's bio
