This drawing workshop is designed to de-mystify the puzzle of drawing faces by showing you all the little tricks of measuring and placing features. There is no doubt that drawing faces is difficult and unfortunately this puts most people off after their frustrating first attempt. But much of the difficulty is in not understanding how the face is divided into a geometric map which can be measured and plotted out before any shading takes place.
Understanding how to construct a human face using all the methods and tricks that all artists use, removes the first hurdle of struggle.
In this workshop I will teach you how to decode the human face by using a simple method of construction, grids and lines which can be applied to every portrait. It's a tried and tested system that once understood, makes the drawing of faces so much easier.
You will be amazed at what can be accompished in a single day, by applying all the little tricks I will be teaching you. You will never look at faces in the same way again! Unlocking the puzzle of how to draw faces effectively will bring many 'aha's' and great satisfaction.
My workshops are always fun and inspiring. As a teacher I love to de-mystify art, because it's a learned skill like any other. Once the basics are learned, it's just a matter of practise to develop the skill.
This workshop will be held in the beautiful, light-filled Rougemont Room at Exeter Library, from 10 - 4 with a short break for lunch. I do hope you'll join us for an enjoyable and enlightening day.
