East of England 'March For Men' in aid of Prostate Cancer UK

Ferry Meadows 2019

Community Charity Event Family Fun Day & Attendee Dog Show

March for Men with us this October for the East of Englands 2nd Prostate Cancer UK family walk/run and family funday & dog show at Ferry Meadows. We raised a WHOPPING £17,020.40 last year. Let's make this year even better!

  • Sunday 6th October 2019

  • Event opens - 09.00am for registration and collection of T-shirts. Once registered please go to Dog show area and register your dogs if you are entering them into the attendee show.

  • Peruse the stalls, food, a quick massage or try the funfair, get into the warm up and take some selfies - don't forget #marchformen #uniting4theguys. Have a go at some crazy golf with Nene Golf/Thorpewood golf club or get some information from the stands.

  • Walk starts - 10.30am (10k first wave, 5k 2nd wave 2,5k, 3rd wave) waves 5mins a part approx.

  • £10.00 registration fee, £50 suggested fundraising target PLEASE GET SPONSORED BEFORE THE EVENT- There will be a stand to hand in any donations. Please put your sponsor forms in a sealed envelope and make sure any gift aid boxes are ticked and the form is clearly labelled with your name.

  • Under 5's FREE

  • 2k, 5k or 10k routes - Please bring water with you.

  • Must be 18 years or over to register (under 18s can attend with a registered parent or guardian)

  • Attendee DOG SHOW £10 per ticket. After all the dogs walking their humans around the routes last year we thought it was only right that the dogs got to shine afterwards with their own show!

    £10 Includes either a medal/bandana or (a T-shirt if you really wish) This also includes as many of the 10 classes you wish your dog to participate in - dress up if you wish, only if your dog is happy with this! Hosted by The Dog House Academy & All About Your Dog Day Care (Please listen out for your class) The dog show starts at 2pm after the walk.

This is a family event and our pets are also part of the family. We do ask that you keep your dog on a lead at all times, due to high attendee levels. We do not want pets being lost and scared. Please make sure you clean up after your dogs, using dog waste bags and placing them in the appropriate bins.

  3. Cutie Patootie Puppy - (any puppy under 12 months)
  4. Pretty Princess (any girls, any age)
  5. Handsome Hound (any boys, any age)
  6. Child Handler Under 10 (any dog, any age handled kindly and knowledgeably by any child under 10)
  7. Child Handler 11 - 14 (any dog, any age handled kindly and knowledgeably by any child between 11 and 14)
  8. Best Trick (any dog and owner showing us a trick that is safe and does not impinge on the welfare of the dog)
  9. Best 6 legs (the best collection of legs of dog and owner or variations of - tri paws are very welcome!)
  10. BEST IN SHOW - Winners of all the above classes compete for the overall WINNER!

  • Please plan to stay after the walk as this is a FUN DAY for all the family with activities, stalls along with the Fire Brigade who will do a safety demonstration, the local Police and the RAF to start the event. Try you hand at a little golf along with lots of other activities on the day. Bring cash as Food and drinks available to buy on the day.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Under 5's are free, but anyone under 18 must be with an adult/parent/guardian.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is plenty of parking available at the event. Parking will be a fixed price of £2 for our attendees, you will be issued a code which is valid from 9am to 17.00 .There are cameras on entry that take a photo of your car number plate. Please pay at the ticket machines before you exit or you will not be able to exit the park barriers.

What can I bring into the event?

Please bring your own water and weather dependent clothing and footwear. Cash for the stalls, cameras, and anything to make your day memorable! There will be Prostate Cancer UK rain ponchos available on the day for £1.00. BE BRIGHT BE BEAUTIFUL - Yes dress up if you wish, that includes the doggies - only if they enjoy it!

What's the refund policy?

There is NO REFUND, all monies go to putting on the event and raising funds for the charity.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Print out your ticket or keep the Eventbrite app on your phone with your confirmation details

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

You can transfer the name to someone else by emailing us the details only

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please email us with this request, so T-shirt sizes are correct on the day.

Wheelchair access

We suggest using the 2.5km route for wheelchair users as this is a smoother route, although wheelchair users did use the 5km route last year. We leave this at your own discretion.
