'March for Women' call out for volunteers, women and men.
Wed 26 April 2017, 10:00 – 12:00 BST
Artist Jeanie Black requires volunteers to be a part of her piece ‘March for Women’ and act the part of demonstrators. The piece is the conclusion of a year’s work in which the artist has been focused on the women of the Glasgow branch of the Women’s Social and Political Union, in other words, Suffragettes. The ‘March for Women’ will be a documented piece, that will see the artist’s work, consisting of four quilted blankets, being used as protest banners and used in the march along with other hand held signage. The march will take place on Wednesday 26th of April, gathering outside the City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow at 10am for instructions and to get in formation with an estimated start time of no later than 10.30am. Volunteers will be required to act the part of demonstrators, holding banners and signs and chanting slogans while walking around the outer perimeter of George Square. All being well this can be completed in one take but a second may be required. So, come along and be a Suffragette for a morning and be part of a fabulous piece of performance art, your help is greatly appreciated.
