March Triangirls: International Women's Day 2021
Event Information
About this event
Event Details:
Presented by Triangirls: Not your average women in tech community. We'd like this event to be open to anyone who'd like to attend. It's important that those in a position of privilege understand the challenges women face, and it's proven that allyship and sponsorship can help us sail ahead even faster in our careers.
Thank you to Cleo, who have sponsored this event. Sponsorship like this helps Triangirls and Coding Black Females maintain a community by allowing us to run events.
About the remote event
Join us from the comfort of your own home, our two part sessions hosted by Triangirls, Cleo, and Coding Black Females. Before each session you will hear a short talk from Triangirls and Coding Black Females and then will be led through a talk or workshop. After a short break, we will swap rooms so you’ll be able to hear from both sets of speakers.
As our events are usually in person, we would love for people to join the event using their camera if you are comfortable in doing so. We understand we can't replicate the previous atmosphere of Triangirls events but we'll try our hardest to!

Schedule
6:30 – Welcome and introduction by Triangirls
6:40 - Introduction to Cleo
We appreciate the urgent need to make tech a more diverse and inclusive space for everyone. We’re really proud to join forces with these two incredibly strong organisations this International Women’s day, as part of our mission to get more women thriving in our industry. Check out our open roles on Triangirls and Coding Black Females jobs.
6:45 - Session 1: Intro to CBF - Community Building and Community helping you on your journey
We believe in the power of community! Community can help you to progress on your journey and help you to find like minded people. The tech community is a great example of this, and we’ve seen so much individual growth of the members of Coding Black Females.
We will discuss how to build a community, and how to get the most out of being a part of a flourishing community.
Hosts: Charlene Hunter & Jessie Auguste
Format: Talk with Q&A
6:45 - Session 2: Triangirls with Cleo
It can feel like career progression happens at the landmark moments - the pay rise, the promotion, the job offer. But what are the steps that get you to that landmark? How can we create opportunities for ourselves and build on a series of small successes that all add up to a step change?
Partnering with Cleo’s own Senior User Researcher Ria, Triangirls’ Rachael and Liz will be hosting a workshop looking at how to take charge of your own career progression, how to identify the blockers and use them to make a plan of action. We'll also be taking questions at the end around the discussed topics. So make sure you grab a pen and paper and bring some questions ready for the session.
Hosts: Ria Jesrani, Liz Hamburger & Rachael Grocott
Format: Talk with activities and Q&A if time
7:15 - Break
7.20 - Swap workshops
7:50 - Regroup as one and closing thoughts
---
We will be sharing the zoom link and password the day of the event (most likely 6pm) so please keep an eye on your inbox and junk folder incase.
Who are the Triangirls?
A femme-friendly community for women and non-binary folks working in tech. Our aim is to make Tech a more fair industry.
You can find out what we get up to in our monthly newsletter, and view photos from our previous events on our website.
Who are the Coding Black Females?
Coding Black Females are a nonprofit organisation, and their primary aim is to provide opportunities for Black female developers to develop themselves, meet familiar faces, network, receive support and build relationships through having regular meetups.
Who are Cleo?
We launched in 2016 because banking is boring and broken. Cleo’s not a bank - she’s got your back. As a result, we’re currently the most trusted financial services app that’s out there, just ask TrustPilot. Our mission? To fight for the world’s financial health.
So, what exactly is Cleo?
Using simplicity and humour, she’s helped 4 million people improve their relationship with money and financial health. She’s a platform for the 99% – an AI assistant defining a new category, one that goes beyond saving and budgets to actually changing how we feel about our finances.
Find your place at the Fintech that's fighting back. You know that awful feeling when you wake up wondering if what you’re about to do for the next 8 hours actually matters? That doesn’t happen here much. Everything we do is grounded in purpose. And because we’re all showing up for the same reason, collaboration comes easy.
