Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments: Dystopia and Women’s Writing

Presented by Professor Susan Watkins 

This talk will reflect on the impact and legacy of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel The Handmaid’s Tale, the popularity of women’s dystopian fiction and also offer some early thoughts on The Testaments, the eagerly-awaited sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, due to be published in September 2019.
