Event Details

Ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections in May, Marie Curie and Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) are jointly holding a breakfast hustings meeting on 23 March 2016, 8-10am at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel.

Polling shows that health is often the most important issue for voters. In this vital year of health and social care integration, we want to make sure that everyone gets the care and support they need when they need it. Integration provides an opportunity to produce better person-centred care and improve outcomes for patients, families and carers across Scotland.

To achieve this, we need the next Scottish Government to ensure that integration is a success, that resources are successfully transferred from acute to community, and that NHS boards, local authorities and the voluntary sector work in true partnership to deliver person-centred care.

This event is a good opportunity for you to question these priorities and hold each party to account to deliver on their election promises. We will be joined by Shona Robison MSP, (Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing & Sport, Scottish Government and SNP), Jenny Marra MSP (Spokesperson for Equality, Scottish Labour), Miles Briggs (Prospective Candidate, Scottish Conservatives), Alison Johnstone MSP (Scottish Greens) and Paul McGarry  (Prospective Candidate, Scottish Liberal Democrat representative).

Refreshments will be available from 8:00am and the session will start promptly at 8.30am. The programme is as follows:

  • Welcome by the Chair
  • Short statements by each panellist
  • Question-time style discussion with questions from the floor
  • Summary by the Chair

Attendance is free and we would be delighted if you, or a colleague, are able to attend.
