Event description

Description

Would you like to help someone with a terminal illness and their family? We are looking for Helper volunteers who can offer valuable emotional and practical support to people living with a terminal illness.

We’re currently recruiting for volunteers aged 18 or over in Portsmouth and the surrounding area for our Marie Curie Helper service. Previous experience is not necessary as full training will be given.

As a Helper volunteer, you’ll spend up to three hours each week visiting people in their own home to offer:

  • companionship and emotional support

  • practical support (such as taking someone out for a coffee or to the shops)

  • a short break for families and carers from their caring role

You’ll gain valuable experience, become part of a local team of volunteers, and make a real difference to people’s lives.

If you are interested in this role and would like to find out more, please join us for an information session on Monday 12th February 2018 at 1730 at the Tesco Community Room, Fratton Park Extra, Fratton Way, Portsmouth, PO4 8FD.

Please register to RSVP your attendance as refreshments will be provided.

If you are unable to make this event you can still register your interest in volunteering by contacting Rachel Hatcher on 0800 304 7023 or portsmouth.helper@mariecurie.org.uk
