MARINE BIOLOGIST FOR A DAY!

@ The Citadel Hill Laboratory, Plymouth.

Organised by the Marine Biological Association for British Science Week 2019. (#BSW19)

This day is for GCSE and A-level students and equivalent with an interest in marine biology.

Join us for a day of interactive workshops and demonstrations with real scientists. Booking is essential and places usually go fast!

Talk to professional scientists and university students working in the field and get career advice and inspiration. Visit a working laboratory and the National Marine Biological Library, and develop wider scientific skills. Participants will increase knowledge of ecology, research techniques, microscopy, DNA, scientific processes and more. All at one of the oldest marine biological Laboratories in the world.

Places are limited to 5 per school/college/group - When registering, select a ticket per student - and enter your details in the registration page. You do not need to register accompanying adults.

The event is free for MBA members. Teachers and guardians who are members can bring a group for free and there is no donation required for accompanying adults. For non-members, we request a donation of £3.00 per participant, payable on the day. Please contact us if this may prevent you from attending.

An event for primary school aged (KS2) students will be held on the 11th and repeated on the 12th of March.

We will make provision for special needs where requested during our day-long workshops, however please be aware that these are often noisy with lots of people and moving between sessions in a variety of different spaces. The MBA are offering a relaxed session in the evening of Wednesday the 11th March . This session is being run to welcome students who may benefit from a calmer experience, such as those with autism and sensory needs. Numbers will be limited and there will be a quieter area away from the main activities for students that need to have a break. Click for more information
