We are absolutely delighted to present this A-list line-up of classic jazz musicians at Twickenham Jazz Club. Expect an evening of timeless, world-class music that will both stimulate the mind and warm the soul.

Mark Nightingale

Mark Daryl Nightingale (born 29 May 1967 in Evesham, Worcestershire) is one of the UK’s most celebrated jazz trombonists, with a prolific career spanning performance, composition, arranging, and education.

If you can find a better trombone player than Mark Nightingale” said John Dankworth, “I’ll fire Mark and hire them!

To many of you, Mark needs no introduction.

He began playing trombone at the tender age of 9, and by 15 was already lead trombonist in NYJO, winning the Don Lusher Award amongst many others. He went on to study at Trinity College of Music and is now credited with significantly shaping trombone and jazz education worldwide.

Mark has toured and recorded with artists such as James Morrison and worked alongside luminaries including John Dankworth, Stan Tracey, Alan Barnes, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, and Scott Hamilton. His career has also crossed into the pop world, performing with Steely Dan, Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, and Sting—most famously playing trombone on Ten Summoner’s Tales.

Martin Shaw

Martin Shaw is one of the UK’s finest jazz trumpeters—a first-call soloist with a warm, lyrical sound and dazzling versatility.

Professor of Brass at the Royal College of Music, Martin is also one of the most popular and endearing trumpet and flugelhorn players on today’s jazz scene. He has worked with many leading artists including Cleo Laine, John Dankworth, Stan Tracey, Pete King, Dick Morrissey, Tim Garland, and numerous big bands including the BBC Big Band.

Alongside his extensive jazz work, Martin has recorded, toured, and performed with pop and soul icons such as Sting, Jamiroquai, Natalie Cole, Paul Young, and The Brand New Heavies. He also finds time for classical ensembles, West End shows, and select club dates.

To have such illustrious talent gracing our humble Patchworks stage is a true honour. We hope you will join us for what promises to be an unforgettable evening.
