Event description
Chinese consumers are leading the way in global luxury spending and defying spending predictions, accounting for 33% of the global market.

About this Event

Chinese luxury spending surpassed $115 billion last year and is expected to deliver over 65% of total growth from now until 2025, driven by trends set from the new generation of consumers.

Building on decades of combined experience advising brands big and small with their China retail strategy, TONG Digital are excited to continue in the next event in their series of monthly China Business Breakfast Briefing.

Background

Chinese millennials and female spenders are the biggest purveyors of luxury goods and have sustained an appetite for products and brands that speak to their personal interests, whether they be personalised goods, endorsed by their favourite KOL influencer or celebrity, or hold nationalist sentiments. The top 5 trends this session will focus on are the growth of millennial consumers, female consumers, nationalism, personalisation, and KOL influencer marketing.

Recent brand faux pas, for instance, have spurred Chinese nationalism and have seen several global luxury brands fall from grace in China and lose their Chinese spokesperson, which has set the record straight about consumer priorities when making a luxury purchase decision.Chinese consumers are willing to spend more on brands that offer customised shopping experiences, indicating increased sophistication in the way they shop and which has set the tone for future consumption.

What can I learn?

In our September briefing, we will cover some of these key trends that are shaping the future of luxury, and discuss how brands can stay on top of their China game for 2020.

Each session will include an update on the latest developments in China’s retail space, as well as a short presentation on a specific topic or industry. Topics for future events include ethical consumerism, men’s beauty, heritage brands, influencer marketing, alcohol and the cultural sector.

Who should attend?

This is aimed at key decision makers in the retail industry - and anyone interested in learning more about China's rich luxury and digital ecosystems.
