This session will explore how museums can get the most from their marketing on a budget. Participants will receive the slides as a handout as well as signposting to additional free resources. 

The session will cover: 

  • Context on museum audiences and trends in 2025/26 
  • How to understand and identify who you want to reach  
  • Choosing marketing channels 
  • How to spend limited marketing resources most effectively  
  • Using AI tools to save time and money 
  • Tips on evaluating marketing and optimising activity 
  • Inspiration from real examples

  • Participants will gain clarity on how to prioritise limited marketing resources  
  • Participants will have access to additional information and resources 

The event will be delivered via Zoom, utilising Breakout Rooms and the Chat function. Participants will receive the slides and links to additional free resources after the session. About the trainer 

Christina is a marketing and audience development consultant and facilitator working with heritage and cultural organisations, with 22 years’ experience working in agency and in-house positions and as a consultant. 

Her experience spans small organisations such as the Museum of Cambridge, Samuel Johnson’s Birthplace Museum and American Library; sector support and development organisations such as the Association of Independent Museums and the Arts Marketing Association; and larger organisations such as the Science Museum Group and Art Fund. 

She has written the book Marketing Strategy for Museums, is a trustee of Kids in Museums and a school governor.

Who should attend? 

This training is at an beginner/intermediate/refresher level, and is aimed at museum staff, trustees and volunteers who need to or are interested in learning more about marketing on a budget. 

Maximum two delegates per organisation. Priority will be given to delegates from non-NPO and non-National museums in the Midlands which are Accredited or officially Working Towards Accreditation.
