Our workshops have been developed specifically with small businesses and organisations in mind.

Not everyone has the luxury of a marketing department or even a dedicated member of staff, and with our backgrounds in small business, a vast range of public sector organisations and a variety of networks we completely understand the challenge of engaging with customers, growing business and trying to sell products or services.

We have a straight forward approach in all that we do with our clients. We can help people explore what their business is and wants to achieve and ways to communicate that the potential customers using the opportunities available to them – and these might be different for each person/business.

If you are looking for professional and affordable training that won’t scare you and will help you to leave the sessions feeling like you can really take some great steps for your business then read on!

Our series of four workshops will introduce the tools and knowledge that you need to market your business using the opportunities (or channels) available, and ultimately help you bring new business to your door. Whether you need to improve your skills in one of the areas that we focus on, several, or all four we are flexible and offer a reduced rate for booking all four workshops.

They are half day sessions including lunch and refreshments, in accessible venues, close to public transport and with free parking.


WORKSHOP 1

SAYING IT!

CREATING YOUR BUSINESS PROFILE

During our 3 hour interactive workshop we will help you explore your business and think about key aspects that form the basis of how you talk about it – who you are and what you do, how you want people to see you and talk about you. We will talk about how understanding the importance of how your tone of voice and the words you choose to use in marketing can affect how you are perceived, and the responses you will get and why.

Creating your business profile is a powerful exercise which will help you move confidently forward in your business.

You will leave the session having thought about your own key messages and values and the words that will best represent you with your customers. You will have considered the tools available to you meaning that you can continue to develop your own business profile beyond our session and understand how to use it.

Time and Date: Wednesday 16th October 9:30am - 12:30pm

Lunch will be served between 12:30pm- 1:30pm so ther will be the opportunity to network with the morning and afternoon groups


WORKSHOP 2

PLANNING IT!

HOW TO WRITE A REAL MARKETING PLAN

During this 3 hour workshop we will introduce the process and skills required to write your marketing objectives and develop a plan that will work for your business or organisation. How successful plans area mix of baseline achievable activity with a good mix of aspirational or new activity ensuring that you can move forward step by step.

We will work with you to identify your customers, where they are and the best ways to engage them. Then we can consider what opportunities you have to communicate with them.

As a group we will discuss different approaches to marketing activity and campaigns, how to implement them and explore what might work best for your own business.

At the end of this workshop you will have a greater understanding of how to create your marketing objectives, create a marketing plan, campaign ideas and action list.

WORKSHOP 3

DOING IT!

TAKING A SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING PLAN AND MAKING IT HAPPEN!

During this 3 hour workshop we will talk a lot about being realistic and what you are able to achieve with good planning. We will help you to ensure that your marketing plan does not sit on a shelf somewhere and remain just ‘a good idea’.

Understand how to apply your business profile and marketing plan to campaigns and activity. This means being able to create relevant and engaging content about your business for your customers through words, pictures or film. We will talk about the opportunities (or channels ie: social media/advertising/shop front etc) available to you and how you might practically use them for different marketing activity across the year.

We’ll work through ideas that are relevant to your business, using examples that you could develop and use beyond the session. At the end of this workshop you will have a wealth of ideas to create your own relevant, successful marketing activity that moves your marketing plans forward in ways that promote your business in the best possible way.

WORKSHOP 4

TELLING IT!

MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS FOR SMALL BUSINESS

During this 3 hour workshop we will explain why public relations is powerful for small businesses and demonstrate why you should include PR in your own marketing activity.

We’ll help you to learn how to identify engaging stories, how to write and format a media release and how and who to issue it to. You will have the chance to think about good opportunities within your own business and we will walk you through drafting something specifically related to you.

You will hear how to engage with journalists and editors and what they will do with your media release and why it is formatted the way it is. We will share what else you can do with your press release, and about the other channels where you can use it.

At the end of this workshop you will have a good understanding of how to identify the good stories in your business, how to write and format a media release, issue and engage with the media.

Time and Date: Thursday 17th October 1:30pm - 4:30pm

I have a track record of delivery against corporate objectives and a sound knowledge of communications including development of marketing, media and public relations strategies.

I am passionate about speaking in simple language without jargon or acronyms whenever possible and I believe that the best way to reach an audience is by communicating with them on their terms and in their language.

I take a creative approach to digital media which means that I can work with clients to develop brands and reach the right audiences using multi-channel strategies.

As a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations I continually improve my knowledge of communications and I am now an accredited PR Practitioner.

A refund is available more than 7 days before your seminar. Eventbrite fees which are included in your ticket price are not refundable.
