About this event

This fast-paced, interactive 1.5 hour session introduces key elements of the marketing mix that social entrepreneurs need to consider as they grow. It’s not a deep-dive into marketing tactics, but a practical ‘health check’ — providing a clear checklist and template to help participants assess where they’re strong, where gaps exist, and where action is needed. Designed to be accessible and jargon-free, the session is tailored for social ventures with limited time and budget.

We’ll explore a practical version of the Marketing Mix, structured into 6 key elements:

1. Product/Service – Are we solving a real problem in a compelling way?

2. Price – Are we pricing for both sustainability and reach?

3. Place – Are we using the right channels to deliver and distribute? - We’ll explore a range of channel types including: -

Direct: Website, events, own stores, pop-ups –

Indirect: Retail partners, online marketplaces, affiliate platforms –

Digital: Email, social media, content marketing, SEO –

Physical: Printed materials, community noticeboards, local networks –

We’ll help participants consider: -

· Where are our customers or stakeholders most likely to engage? –

· Which channels build trust and visibility? –

· What can we realistically resource and sustain? –

How can we test channels before committing fully?

4. Promotion – Are we visible, memorable, and building trust?

5. People – Do our team and ambassadors reinforce our value?

6. Positioning – Can we clearly explain who we serve, how we help, and why we’re different?

Each element includes example questions and a ‘traffic light’ self-assessment tool.

Participants will: - Understand the key elements of a practical marketing mix for social ventures. - Use a simple checklist and self-assessment template to identify priorities. - Gain confidence in making marketing decisions that align with their values and goals. - Leave with clarity on next steps to strengthen their marketing foundation.
