Event description

Description

Blackwell's are delighted to announce that throughout the Oxford Literary Festival, Saturday 25th March- Sunday 2nd April, we will be hosting a series of 'Marquee Moments' free talks in our Blackwell's Festival Marquee. Guest speakers will introduce the topic of their book in a brief 30 minute talk that is free to attend.

We are pleased to be joined by the Emeritus Professor of Politics at the University of Oxford, Archie Brown, who will be discussing his book 'The Myth of the Strong Leader'.

Chosen by Bill Gates as a Book of the Year 2016, 'The Myth of the Strong Leader' challenges the widespread belief that 'strong leaders', dominant individual wielders of power, are the most successful and admirable. Archie will be exploring this using examples of present and past leaders such as Donald Trump, Mikhail Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher, pinpointing different types and qualities of leadership. This free event is one definitely not to miss!

The Blackwell's Festival Marquee will be located in the Clarendon Quad of the Bodleian Library. This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Seating is limited for all talks in the marquee, so please arrive early to ensure a seat. If you require any assistance please contact us at events.oxford@blackwell.co.uk.
