Marquee Moments: Mark Williams 'Ireland's Immortals'
Mon 27 March 2017, 15:15 – 15:45 BST
Blackwell's are delighted to announce that throughout the Oxford Literary Festival, Saturday 25th March- Sunday 2nd April, we will be hosting a series of 'Marquee Moments' free talks in our Blackwell's Festival Marquee. Guest speakers will introduce the topic of their book in a brief 30 minute talk that is free to attend.
On Monday 27th March at 3:15pm we will be joined by Mark Williams, who will be discussing gods of Irish myths that feature in his new book 'Ireland's Immortals- A History of the Gods of Irish Myth'. Tracing how the gods have shifted shape across the centuries, 'Ireland's Immortals' explores the gods from Iron Age cult to medieval saga to today's young adult fiction. Join us to find out why the mythical beings have loomed so large in the world's imagination for so long.
Mark Williams is a Research Fellow in Celtic Studies at Cambridge University.
The Blackwell's Festival Marquee will be located in the Clarendon Quad of the Bodleian Library. This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Seating is limited for all talks in the marquee, so please arrive early to ensure a seat. If you require any assistance please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
