This event will give the chance to see the newly renovated Mary Rose museum in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which reopened in July 2016, to a world-wide audience. A tour of the museum will take place, highlighting the conservation to date, the systems required to produce stable environments and ongoing monitoring work required to sustain the museum.
A selection of talks will be given from scientists and conservators involved in the looking after the Mary Rose collection. Topics will include the conservation of archaeological wood, metal and the importance of monitoring pollutants in the museum environment. Throughout the day there will be the opportunity to talk to these people regarding their input into conserving the Mary Rose collection.
Buffet lunch included - please let the organiser know if you have any special dietary requirement.
