Maryhill Burgh Halls is delighted to host a NEW art programme, full of exciting workshops and classes for all ages and abilities. Join our wonderful range of artists to try out your crafty side, discover your voice, meet new friends and have fun! 


Come and Try Gaelic Song

Dates: 24th Sept, 8th Oct and 6th Nov
Times: 12-1pm
Ages: 10 years +
Price: £5.00

Come and try Gaelic song with award-winning Gaelic singer and choir leader Maeve Mackinnon. Beginners are very welcome! Participants will explore a wide variety of Gaelic songs and the history behind the songs. Easy to read phonetics sheets and translations are provided. Come along for a fun and welcoming experience!

Come and Try Traditional Scots and Irish Song
Dates: 24th Sept, 8th Oct and 6th Nov
Times: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Ages: 10 years+

Come and try Traditional Scots and Irish song with award-winning singer and choir leader Maeve Mackinnon. Participants will explore a wide variety of song genres and the history behind the songs. Song sheets provided. Come along for a fun and welcoming experience!

Dates: 15th and 16th November
Times: 4pm – 6pm
Ages: 8 - 10 years

Want to join the ranks of Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift? They write their own songs and so can you! Come and be part of a group collaborating on writing and producing an original song. Develop your lyric writing skills, improvisation of melodies, harmonies and rhythm skills and composition of instrumental parts/riffs. Those that play an instrument can bring it along and those that don’t can focus on creating the vocal harmonies and percussion. There will be the opportunity to have the song professionally recorded and to perform in public for those that want to!

Pop-Up Story presents Hidden Giants
Dates: 10th Dec

Hidden Giants is a story sculpture workshop designed for children. This workshop is all about having fun, working together with recycled paper and cardboard to create a imaginative story world inspired by the local history of the18th Century Balgray Mill and Kelvindale Paper Mill, unlock your imagination and discover a magical world where the Hidden Giant’s roam.

Discover the creative art of thread bookbinding and personalise your diaries, jotters or books with beautiful Japanese patterns. Please bring any paper or fabric to be binded.

Shibori Zome

Join this colourful workshop of Japanese tye dye. Bring two pieces of small cotton fabric, around the size of a t-shirt and create your own vibrant Japanese style tye dye. 

 
Japanese patterns

Create your own wrapping paper using Japanese patterns for creative inspiration.

Please note that we are unable to refund tuition fees if you cancel your booking. Refunds may only be considered under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Heritage Manager. In these instances, we will endeavour to offer you a place on an alternative course/rescheduled class, or provide a full refund.
