Maryhill Burgh Halls is delighted to host a NEW art programme, full of exciting workshops and classes for all ages and abilities. Join our wonderful range of artists to try out your crafty side, discover your voice, meet new friends and have fun! 

Pinhole Photography
Artist: Morwenna Kearsley
Dates: 15th October
Times: 11am – 3pm
Ages: 12 years+
Price: £17.00

In this fun, hands-on workshop, learn how to make a pinhole camera and create your own unique photographs! A pinhole camera, a variation of Camera obscura, is a simple camera without a lens. Pinhole cameras can be made from a range of household items, from a matchbox to a wheelie bin! You will look at the work of other photographers, make your own cameras and then learn how to exposure onto photographic paper to make your own unique images. You will also learn how to develop your images using traditional photographic chemicals.


Want to write a song?
Artist: Chiara Berardelli
Dates: 25th and 26th October
Times: 4.30pm  - 6.30pm
Ages: 12 – 15 years

Want to join the ranks of Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift? They write their own songs and so can you! Come and be part of a group collaborating on writing and producing an original song. Develop your lyric writing skills, improvisation of melodies, harmonies and rhythm skills and composition of instrumental parts/riffs. Those that play an instrument can bring it along and those that don’t can focus on creating the vocal harmonies and percussion. There will be the opportunity to have the song professionally recorded and to perform in public for those that want to!


Comic Boom

Times: 1pm – 3pm

Ages: 12-15years

Learn how to make your own comics. Create your own characters, stories and comic strips with the help of Magic Torch Comics writer and artists. We'll show you how to get ideas, how to draw things so they look like stuff and even suggest where you can stick your sound effects. Your adventure awaits!

In these instances, we will endeavour to offer you a place on an alternative course/rescheduled class, or provide a full refund.
