Description

Jemma Bausor was born in Warwickshire and studied at Wells Cathedral School and the Royal College of Music, where she won the Peter Pears Duo Prize. She was awarded the Robert Rendell Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, and later took up a full scholarship to study at the Encuentro Musica y Academia in Santander, Spain. Jemma is frequently in demand as a soloist; her concerto work has taken her around Europe and as far away as Thailand, and she has also recorded solo works for Boosey & Hawkes. She also works for orchestras around the UK and has spent some time playing for the West End show Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Helen James began playing clarinet through County Durham’s Music Service. She continued her studies at Trinity College of Music where she was awarded the Wilfred Hambleton Award and the Gladys Puttick Prize for improvisation. As a member of the clarinet quartet Clariphonics she won a Park Lane Group Young Artists Award, which included a performance at the Purcell Room. She is co-principal clarinet with St. Paul’s Sinfonia and also plays with other orchestras such as English Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and West End shows including The Wizard of Oz and Les Misérables.

Alexandra Davidson is originally from Bournemouth, and took her first degree at Oxford University, where she held an instrumental scholarship. She went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where she won the Florence Woodbridge bassoon prize. Alex was co-principal bassoon of Southbank Sinfonia for the 2006 season, and performed the Weber concerto with them at the Deal Festival. She now freelances with orchestras around the country, including numerous Radio 3 broadcasts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Ulster Orchestra. Alex is also a founder member of the bassoon quartet Reed Rage.
