What are the entry facts for overseas participants?

What’s so special about fundraising for Mend the Gap and Perimart International (£1,000 pp) for overseas participants?

The Masai Mara Kenya Marathon is unique and should not be viewed like the many City marathons held around the world. This event is Mend The Gap and Perimart International charities' own flagship fundraising initiative to support specific poverty alleviation and education and community projects funded by the two charities in Kenya. We therefore ask all prospective runners to note that by entering this event, they are required to raise at least £1,000 pp for Mend the Gap’s and Perimart International’s existing projects. This is a condition of entry.

Unfortunately, Mend the Gap and Perimart International are not in a position to accept entries from runners who wish to use this event to fundraise for other charities.

  • Each runner is required to pay a non-refundable fundraising deposit of £250 pp to Mend the Gap by Friday 7th July 2017.
  • Payment to Mend the Gap is by debit/debit card, BACs or corporate or bankers cheque (which must clear by 7th July 2017).
  • This can be paid with your entry fee via the Eventbrite page if preferred.
  • Fundraising is requested from adult runners only, not from spectators or children
  • All donations should be sent to Mend the Gap by 30th October 2017.

What are the travel and accommodation arrangement for overseas participants?

Please note that all arrangements and costs of international and in-country travel & accommodation are arranged by you based on the options on the event website. Please select the accommodation type, duration and mode of local transportation required. You can pay for travel and accommodation in full or by instalments to Universally Local Plus (UK) Ltd who have agreed to act as an Agent for the Marathon Village and other neighbouring Glamping places and high end Luxury Hotels in the Park at preferential rates, should you like to use them. Marathon Village accommodation is the most economical option and therefore is likely to be snapped up very quickly as it has limited spaces which will be issued on first-come-first-served-basis. Campers to the village are required to come with their own green coloured stand up tent (at least two person tent) and beddings (to be donated to the community exchange and school linking project after the event). Campers can hire and use the tents at the village.

We strongly recommend that you aim to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by 9.00 a.m. on 4th August for all the airport transfer options to the event site as per your booking. All international guests to the event are given a schedule by Mend the Gap and this includes not only game drives, practice runs and 'down time' but also the opportunity to visit Perimart International and Mend the Gap projects and see for yourself the benefits of fundraising for charities.
