Event description
Empowering women and girls through creative arts workshops. Photography exhibition and live performances by local Oxford artists!

About this Event

MASAYA is a community project that aims to explore the female collective and to support women survivors of sexual violence through creative arts workshops.

The exhibition will showcase work done by women and girls in a series of workshops across Oxfordshire in collaboration with the organisations supporting women such as OSARCC (Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre) and YWMP (Young Women's Music Project).

MASAYA organises 3 types of workshops (vocal, mask and body sculpture) to explore the following questions:

  • What does it mean to be a woman in today's society?
  • What is our individual and collective vision for the future?
  • What power can be drawn from standing together as a collective?

The result is a powerful collection of images and sounds that give a face, voice and movement to the female collective.

AGENDA

Live performance | Laura Guarch (singer) and Macarena Ortuzar (dancer) will bring MASAYA to life. An improvise dance based on the body sculpture created during the workshops, accompanied by a live performance of the song composed during the vocal workshops
