Description

A symposium exploring mask and arts pedagogy across a range of performance disciplines at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. 7th and 8th February 2018. Starting both days at 10.00am

The 7th will comprise of two panel sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These will be in the format of presented papers, followed by a panel discussion.

At 6.30pm on the 7th, Olly Crick will perform in Theatre 1 "Salon to Stage" a history of commedia and masks.

On the 8th Olly Crick will deliver a Key Note Lecture "How masks work".. a synthesis from neuroscience and phenomenology to explain why masks have such as amazing effect on the audience. Chaired by Dr. Michael Finneran, Senior Lecturer in Drama and Head of Department of Drama, Mary Immaculate College of Education, Limerick.

To conclude the activites of the 8th, Simon Thompson will facilitate a 2hr participatory workshop on "Neutral Mask"
