On November 5th, miss the fireworks and be enthralled as the Esterhazy Singers perform a programme which includes the rhythmically electric Haydn 'Theresienmesse' interspersed with a set of motets performed between each movement. Each motet provides a reflection on the mass texts they follow and include gems from Bruckner, John IV, Desprez and Rheinberger. Natalie Johnson-Hyde (Soprano), Judy Brown (Mezzo), John Findon (Tenor) and David Ireland (Bass) will join the Choir to perform reflective ensembles as well as singing the solo quartet in the Haydn mass.
Named after Haydn’s patron, Prince Esterhazy, the Esterhazy Singers has established a reputation in its over 40-year history for its performances of unaccompanied English partsongs and has recently recorded Jewels in the crown: a treasury of English choral music, which is available to buy as a CD online and can be downloaded from the iTunes store.
Widely regarded as one of the leading amateur choirs in the City of London, The Esterhazy Singers is directed by choral specialist Esther Jones (also Associate Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and part-time tutor at the Royal Academy of Music). This concert will be under the baton of guest conductor and director, Gregory Batsleer.
Tickets: £12.50 in advance, £15 on the door, students and children £7.50.
