Synopsis: The rhythm of verse may seem daunting at first, but in truth it is a marvelous companion, breathing life into words upon the stage. Like a map, it guides us, showing how language can blossom into action.

In this gathering, we will discover that the rules of verse are not a cage, but a source of support and inspiration. They whisper clues about what a character thinks and feels, and invite us to transform those emotions into living movement.

Together, we will wander through monologues by Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca. We will see how theory offers us firm ground to stand on, yet how, in letting it go, we uncover the freedom of play and the truth of performance. We will also learn to listen to silence—those breathing spaces where characters speak to us more deeply than words can.

This is an invitation to all who are curious about classical theatre, and who wish to approach it in a way that is alive, intimate, and full of wonder.

About Paula Iwasaki: Paula Iwasaki graduated in Acting from RESAD (2013) and complemented her studies with musical training in voice, piano, and flamenco guitar. Over the past ten years, she has built her professional career with the National Classical Theatre Company (CNTC) in La villana de Getafe, El perro del hortelano, Fuenteovejuna, La dama boba, Castelvines y Monteses, and El castillo de Lindabridis; at Teatro Español and Teatro Fernán Gómez in Trágala, trágala, El lugar donde rezan las putas, and Tea Rooms; at the National Drama Centre (CDN) in Luces de bohemia, Top Girls, and Mother Courage and Her Children; at Teatro Marquina in Chavela, la última chamana; and at the Mérida Classical Theatre Festival in Hypatia of Alexandria and Alexander the Great and the Persian Eunuch.

Alongside her stage work, she has also developed a screen career, appearing in La catedral del mar, Historias para no dormir, and Amar es para siempre, among others.

Sinopsís: El ritmo del verso puede parecer abrumador al principio, pero en realidad es un compañero maravilloso, que insufla vida a las palabras sobre el escenario. Como un mapa, nos guía, mostrándonos cómo el lenguaje puede florecer en acción.

En este encuentro, descubriremos que las reglas del verso no son una jaula, sino una fuente de apoyo e inspiración. Susurran pistas sobre lo que piensa y siente un personaje, y nos invitan a transformar esas emociones en movimiento vivo.

Juntos recorreremos monólogos de Lope de Vega y Calderón de la Barca. Veremos cómo la teoría nos brinda un suelo firme donde apoyarnos y, sin embargo, al soltarla, descubrimos la libertad del juego y la verdad de la representación. También aprenderemos a escuchar el silencio—esos espacios de respiración en los que los personajes nos hablan más profundamente que con palabras.

Esta es una invitación para todos aquellos curiosos del teatro clásico, que deseen acercarse a él de una manera viva, íntima y llena de asombro.

Sobre Paula Iwasaki: Paula Iwasaki se licencia en interpretación textual en la RESAD (2013) y complementa sus estudios con formación musical en voz, piano y guitarra flamenca. En los últimos diez años desarrolla su carrera profesional en la CNTC ("La villana de Getafe", "El perro del hortelano", "Fuenteovejuna", "La dama boba", "Castelvines y Monteses" y "El castillo de Lindabridis"), el Teatro Español y el teatro Fernán Gomez ("Trágala, trágala", "El lugar donde rezan las putas" y "Tea Rooms") en el CDN ("Luces de bohemia", "Top girls" y "Madre Coraje y sus hijos"), en el Teatro Marquina (*Chavela, la última chamana") y en el Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida (Hipatia de Alejandría", y "Alejandro Magno y el eunuco persa").
